She smiles and it is like she has a big gourd of a heart watering the joy of her face and spilling out into the flashpoint of my magic time stopping machine. She will live as long as forever is in this flat photo, growing old beyond it like she has become two people now, one remaining forever in joy and youth in the sun in a tent city in a place on an island in the caribbean after an horrific earthquake, the other growing naturally and beyond into a million other faces I hope she will live through. She is me a hundred years ago when i was a boy and was not afraid even when life was scary. She is me when I was a teen. She is me now as a man with a daughter. She is my daughter, like my daughter. She smiles because why wouldn’t she? Some stranger is putting a machine in front of her and clicking a shutter and she is smiling at the clicking and the attention and she is happy for some reason I cannot understand because I see where she is sleeping tonight, in an treeless field in a tent. She has a big gourd heart full of spiritual water i drink of gladly.
